# Colors

> Let members pick a name colour from a panel, with templates to create the colour roles for you. Basic tier.

Colour roles are ordinary Discord roles whose only job is to tint a member's name. Vetox manages the palette and the panel members pick from.

## Two tabs

    The palette, the panel, and what happens on join.

## Building a palette

Add colours one at a time, or apply one of **48 templates** — curated palettes covering pastels, neons, gradients, seasonal sets and monochromes.

<Note>
  Template names are shown in English in every language.
</Note>

<Warning>
  **Applying a template replaces your current palette.** The old colour roles are removed from the server and members lose the colour they had chosen.
</Warning>

<Note>
  Applying a template creates a role per colour and can take up to half a minute on a large palette. Leave the page open until it finishes.
</Note>

Colour roles are created with a numeric name and no permissions at all — they cannot be used to grant access to anything by accident.

<Tip>
  Discord shows a member in the colour of their **highest** coloured role. If members pick a colour and see no change, another role above the colour roles already has a colour set. Drag the colour roles above it, or clear that role's colour.
</Tip>

## The panel

**Send panel** posts the picker to a channel. Members click to take a colour; picking a new one swaps out the old.

<Note>
  Sending a panel is an immediate action — it does not go through the save bar and cannot be undone by discarding.
</Note>

<Warning>
  If you delete the panel message, members can no longer pick. Send a new one — the colours themselves are unaffected.
</Warning>

## Colour on join

Assign a colour automatically to every new member — random from the palette, or a specific one.

<Info>
  **Colour on join, the panel, and templates all require Basic.** The palette itself is free.
</Info>

<Note>
  The colour-on-join setting only enforces the premium requirement when you actually switch it **on**. Editing its options while it is off appears to save, but the feature will not run until your tier allows it.
</Note>
