# Profile Customization

> Backgrounds and XP bar colours for your profile card.

  **No Membership tier is required.** Membership only affects how fast you earn Vito, never what you can buy. Everything here is available to every user.

## Where it shows up

<Warning>
  Your profile background appears on the **profile card image** produced by the `/profile` command in Discord.

  It does **not** appear on your [public web profile](/en/members/profile) at `vetox.io/u/…`, which uses your Discord banner instead.

## Two tabs

  The Colors tab sells the **progress bar** colour. Your name's colour is bought separately on [Name Customization](/en/members/name-customization).

## Backgrounds

**31 backgrounds**, from 75 to 500 Vito.

One is free and cannot be bought: it is granted for [voting](/en/members/voting) for Vetox on Top.gg. Its card shows **Vote on Top.gg** instead of a price.

<Tip>
  **Preview before you buy.** The Preview button renders a real, full-resolution card with the background applied, so you can see it against your own name colour and avatar first. This works on backgrounds you do not own.

<Warning>
  The theme switch inside the preview dialog is **not a preview control — it saves permanently.** Toggling between Dark and Light there changes the theme of your actual profile card.
</Warning>

## XP bar colours

The same 61-colour palette used everywhere else, plus a free **Default**.

### Design your own

Each stop must be a full 6-digit hex code. The number of colours must match the type you paid for.

<Note>
  If your custom colour turns out to be identical to one you already own, you are **not charged again** — it simply equips the one you have.

## Ownership is per-surface

<Warning>
  **Buying a colour here unlocks it for your profile bar only.**

  The same swatch appears on [Rank Customization](/en/members/rank-customization) and [Name Customization](/en/members/name-customization), and each is a separate purchase. Having Crimson on your name, your profile bar and your rank bar means paying 1,000 Vito three times.

Backgrounds are likewise separate: profile backgrounds and rank backgrounds are two distinct catalogues with two distinct inventories.

## Buying

Purchases require your [Vito PIN](/en/members/vito) and appear in your transaction history. Equipping something you already own is always free and needs no PIN.

  Three wrong PIN attempts lock your Vito account and send you an email. Set a PIN before your first purchase.
</Warning>

## Event backgrounds

Backgrounds granted for events are yours permanently once received. Some staff grants carry an expiry date, after which the background is removed and unequipped automatically.

<Warning>
  **Expiry dates are not currently shown on the card.** An expiring background looks identical to a permanent one, and will simply disappear from your card when it lapses.

## Troubleshooting

    This message also appears when the catalogue fails to load. Refresh the page before assuming the shop is empty.

  <Accordion title="Purchase is refused with insufficient funds">
    Check your balance on the [Vito](/en/members/vito) page. The balance is only shown here inside the PIN dialog, after you have chosen an item.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My background is not on my public profile">
    It never appears there. Profile backgrounds are for the `/profile` card image in Discord only.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I bought a colour and it is still locked on another page">
    Expected — each surface has its own inventory. See the warning above.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My card theme changed and I did not mean to change it">
    The theme switch in the preview dialog saves immediately. Open any preview and set it back.
  </Accordion>
